Gravity Filtration System Instructions

Please read these instructions carefully and familiarize yourself with the product before using.

  1. Drinking untreated water and/or using this filter improperly may expose you to harmful microorganisms and increase your risk of gastrointestinal illness. Reduce your chances of becoming sick by following the warnings and instructions in this manual and educating yourself on the safe use of this water filter. Keep water tubes and other potentially contaminated parts away form filtered water to prevent cross contamination.
  2. Never use the water filter to filter seawater or chemically contaminated water, such as water found near mining or agriculture operations. The water filter cannot make drinkable water from these sources and does not remove all waterborne viruses, chemicals, and radioactive materials.
  3. Before the first use, rinse the Tube, Filter, Bladder with clean water. To clean, rinse with clean water, blow remaining water out, and air dry after each use.
  4. For best results, always use the clearest water available to help avoid clogging the filter. We recommend clear, fast-moving water sources such as a stream, creek, or river. Always practice good water safety. A clogged filter will not work quickly and will need to be replaced sooner if not cleared.
  5. Never store water filter cartridges in cold temperatures (less than 32 degrees Fahrenheit) - if the filter freezes, ti will be permanently damaged.
  6. backflush the water filter cartridge regularly - once per day on long trips, or after each 1-2 day trip, run clean water backwards through the water filter cartridge.
  7. if it becomes difficult for water the flow through the filter, the filter may be clogged. Clean the filter per the instructions above. If this does not solve the issue, the filter may be near the end of its lifespan and it will need to be replaced.
